About Lortho Lortho [ˈloɾ.tʰo] lortho

Lortho is an a priori constructed language created by Brian Bourque in the beginning of 2003. It originally started as a prop for a strategy board game where only the script was created for aesthetics. Fast forward about 13 years and it has now evolved into an agglutinating language.

Lortho has 18 consonants, 5 monophthongs, and 4 diphthongs. All letters are strictly pronounced regardless of placement or stress in formal settings (i.e. literary works, ceremonies, etc.); however there are some colloquial pronunciations (which are still in development).

The alphabet consists of 21 letters, one of which is a vowel (monophthong). The other four monophthongs are written only in ligature form when combined with a consonant or the vowel [i] for a diphthong. The inspiration for the alphabet came from the Devanagari (Sanskrit/Hindi), Uchen (Tibetan), and Tengwar (Quenya) scripts.

The flag is brown, blue, and green. The brown represents the ground, the blue represents water and atmosphere, and green represents life. The people of Dhamashi are a race of beings who are very close to their natural environment and are generally a peaceful people.
